While some may find those features tiresome or boring, to me, and a good number of other people like you, find those a core feature that makes a Far Cry game, Far Cry. Without a perk tree, animal hunts for upgrades, radio towers to see more of the map, etc, this game just feels like any other shooter now.
Don't skip multiplayer because it isn't why you play a Far Cry game. The supernatural side-story set in Shangri-La stands out above nearly every other objective, online feature, and other Far Cry

Switching and summoning new animal allies is really simple. Just bring up your map or your arsenal and tab over to the amigos tab. Hover over the fang for hire that you want to summon and choose summon. If you already have one of your pets in the field, they will leave and be replaced with a new one.
Far Cry 5’s multiplayer mode, Far Cry 6, does NOT feature Far Cry Arcade. This is a huge mistake. Far Cry’s FPS experience truly is good.
